Volunteer of the Month – December 2009
Thanks, Mary Rasmussen, Humane Society of Northwest Montana’s Volunteer of the Month for December 2009! Even thought Mary has been a volunteer for only a short year, she dedicates many mornings cleaning and walking dogs.
Her love for dogs and wanting to support the work and mission of the Humane Society of Northwest Montana is what encouraged Mary to volunteer. As a stay at home mom, Mary is very busy with her family, but enjoys gardening and reading. Her animals include two dogs both adopted from a shelter. Congratulations Mary!
Volunteer of the Month – November 2009
Thanks Lindsay Nix, Humane Society of Northwest Montana’s Volunteer of the Month for November!
For over two years, Lindsay has enthusiastically volunteered at the adoption center. Her extensive knowledge of dog behavior helps to improve the lives of the dogs and helps attract new owners. Lindsay says, “Teaching a new dog manners is very rewarding and makes a big difference on getting a dog adopted.”
Lindsay is employed as an Insurance Agent with HUB International. She loves to spend time outside with her family and training her own dog, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, for Agility Events. Congratulations Lindsay.
Volunteer of the Month – October 2009
As a special treat for the month of October, two Humane Society volunteers have been chosen as Volunteers of the Month. Congratulations Mary Jane and Jessie! Mary Jane and Jessie are both retired and impact the lives of homeless dogs by walking and playing with them once a week. Their commitment and involvement with the Charlotte Adkins Animal Adoption Center started about a year ago. In that time, both women have seen many dogs get adopted and say that it’s a joy to see the dogs go to forever homes. Since neither volunteer is a pet owner currently, they can be found sewing, gardening and visiting with friends in their spare time.
Volunteer of the Month – September 2009
Congratulations John LaPlume, Humane Society of Northwest Montana Volunteer of the Month for September. John has been a volunteer for about one year and has represented the Humane Society at many community events.
Since John is retired he devotes time to taking dogs out for long walks and seeing to it that they get plenty of exercise in the pet park. He enjoys watching the dogs have fun. When John is not volunteering he enjoys kayaking, hiking, gardening and volunteering at Glacier Park. John has one cat named Tommy.
Thank you John!
Volunteer of the Month – August 2009
Congratulations Donna Taylor, Humane Society of Northwest Montana Volunteer of the Month for August!
Donna has been a Humane Society volunteer since the late 1970’s when she was involved with the Missoula Humane Society. Since that time Donna has helped publicize photos of orphaned animals in need of homes and currently helps with the pet bank program. Donna says she volunteers because of her love for all animals and the outstanding reputation and good work of the Humane Society. In her free time,
Donna enjoys spending time with her three children, her husband and her two rescue cats, Abigail and Sophie, and her very spoiled black lab, Kona.
Volunteer of the Month – July 2009
Congratulations and thank you Deborah Stokesberry – July 2009 Volunteer of the Month!
Volunteering at the Humane Society of Northwest Montana for over a year, Deborah’s high energy and compassionate care for the homeless dogs and cats is very apparent. Whether folding newsletters, walking dogs around the 14 acre adoption facility or just sitting on the kennel floor loving up the dogs, Deborah’s kind nature shines through consistently.
When Deborah is not volunteering, her favorite past times are collecting Ty beanie babies, taking motorcycle road trips with her husband, Bill, and making trips to visit her grandson Caleb. Deborah says that the dogs at the Humane Society help fill the void since her and Bill’s dog, Hagar, passed on.
