Volunteers of the Month – December 2011
Congratulations Linda and Shyanne! As the December 2011 Volunteers of the Month for the Humane Society of Northwest Montana, we sincerely thank you for your “spirit of giving” during this holiday season and all throughout the year. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
If you would like to learn more about volunteering at the Humane Society and you are at least 16 years old, make plans to attend the one and one-half hour Volunteer Orientation session on Saturday, December 10th at 11am. Volunteer Orientation is free to the public and will be held at the Humane Society location at 100 Adopt A Pet Way in Kalispell (off Hwy 93 between Kalispell and Whitefish).
Volunteers of the Month – October 2011
An artist who loves poetry and majored in acting, Kathy was introduced to the Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center by a friend who volunteered and has been hooked every since. For the past year, Kathy has faithfully dedicated herself to socializing cats and hanging out with the dogs. Kathy’s pet family includes a very spoiled 12 year old albino cockatiel named Chewy because of his neurotic obsession for chewing anything in sight.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoys hiking and camping. Congratulations Kathy, our homeless animals applaud you!
Volunteers of the Month – September 2011
The Humane Society is blessed to have volunteers from all walks of life and there is no better example than an employee and her entire family who volunteer their time to serve the homeless animals at the Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center. After serving our country and retiring from the US Navy, Ron and Theresa, who served for seven years, make their home in Flathead Valley.
Fortunately, for the Humane Society, their children, Stephen, Gregory and Cody who are no strangers to hard work, share their parents’ sense of duty to serve by volunteering as a family at community events and fostering orphaned cats and dogs. Join us in thanking this dedicated family who served our country proudly and now selflessly serve our community.

Congratulations Diane Keller, Humane Society of Northwest Montana Volunteer of the Month for June. Volunteers of the Month – April 2011
Thank you, Danni, Abby and Tracey, Humane Society of Northwest Montana’s Volunteers of the Month for April 2011!
These three dedicated volunteers prove that a family who plays together stays together and what better way to have fun than to enrich the lives of homeless animals. Inspired by a desire to serve others; Danni, Abby and Tracey agree that their love of animals is what makes volunteering at the Humane Society so much fun.
In addition to their busy personal lives, their family enjoys boating, tubing, and kayaking and is looking forward to beautiful summer in the Flathead. Congratulations Danni, Abby and Tracey, we appreciate all that you do!
Volunteer of the Month – March 2011
Congratulations Barb Sauer! – Humane Society of Northwest Montana’s Volunteer of the Month for March 2011.
With a heart of gold and the patience of a saint, Barb is one of the few volunteers who help Humane Society animals get adopted by working at the front desk. Although Barb works on behalf of all the cats and dogs, she especially wants to see Rudy, a Boxer mix who has lived at the adoption center for 1 ½ years, receive a forever home with a loving family who has time to spend with him. So to accommodate her request, Rudy’s photograph is included here in the hopes that someone will take a second look. Barb and her husband currently share their home with three canine family members, Cassie, Shadow and Max. In her spare time, Barb enjoys spending time with her furry babies, computing, gardening and entertaining friends. Thank you Barb!
Volunteer of the Month – February 2011
Congratulations Justin Taylor, Humane Society of Northwest Montana Volunteer of the Month for February!
As a dedicated volunteer for the past four months, Justin has proven that he can take on any challenge at the adoption center whether it involves socializing dogs in freezing temperatures or grooming matted cats. Justin who volunteers several times a week says his love for animals is the reason he volunteers at the Humane Society. In his spare time, Justin enjoys competing in athletic events such as running, biking and snow skiing. In 2002 Justin was awarded “The Montana State Athlete of the Year for Special Olympics.” In 2005, Justin was instrumental in the rescue of a young woman who fell 60 feet while snow skiing at Big Mountain. Not only is Justin a local hero but he is an inspiration to everyone who works along side of him. When asked about his future goals, Justin says he plans to compete in the upcoming Special Olympics Intermediate Downhill and Giant Slalom events on Whitefish Mountain and would like to help children by becoming a DREAM ski instructor. Thank you and good-luck Justin. We’re proud to have you on our team!
